- This painting started life as a vertical Italian street scene, but from early on worked better as a landscape. The paint flowed freely across the applied surface, with little influence from me. Sometimes it is better to observe than control. For me the picture feels like travelling through turmoil to the sanctuary beyond. You may have other views.
